After crewing tugs then fishing vessels and with his Masters and Engineering Certificates, Stephen Bruyn graduated with degrees in Applied Science and Design from the University of Canberra. Stephen then joined Australia’s premier Naval Architecture Consultancy at that time, Phil Curran Design. During ten years as employee, then partner Stephen’s main focus was the development of the CNC “kit boat” concept. Phil Curran and Stephen basically invented the pre-cut and packaged vessel concept, setting up a separate company - CDM. CDM vessels have now been built in over eighteen countries and the concept Stephen founded Bruyn Design in January 2000. The designs range from 5m to 60m and most are CNC cut aluminium designs. Bruyn Design takes great pride in its ability to deliver high quality, comprehensive design and consultancy services to the international marine industry on a very personal level with great value to the client. This is attested to by our list of satisfied and regular clients. Bruyn Design uses the latest software and methodology to achieve the best possible result for its clients. Stephen Bruyn has been a beta tester for the world leading Formation Design Systems suite of “Maxsurf” software for over sixteen years, and has subsequently developed unique design systems utilizing the programs, particularly for CNC cutting of vessels and GRP production plugs. As technology in all fields constantly changes no one can claim to keep abreast of all developments and have leading expertise in all fields. In recognition of this Bruyn Design uses associated consultants to ensure the best expertise for various specific tasks where necessary. |
